Photography on the border of painting

The city of Gelsenkirchen awarded me in 2024 a grant for artistic research into “Photography on the Borders of Painting”.

The aim of my research is to investigate aesthetic and substansive changes in my images when I use photography not as a final product but as a creative tool in conjunction with painting. In parallel to theoretical research into other artists’ approaches, I experiment with different techniques to explore their possibilities and challenges. My interest lies in finding a meaningful middle ground between photography and painting. By asking the question “What more can photography be?”, I try to create works in combination with painting that represent a cross-genre synthesis.
